Mission
The goal of the Fondation de lutte au décrochage scolaire (FLDS) is to contribute to the school perseverance of young Montrealers.
History
1990: The Fondation du Conseil scolaire de l’île de Montréal is established by partners from the education and business sectors dedicated to promoting the development of our economy and society.
2003: The Fondation du Conseil scolaire de l’île de Montréal becomes the Fondation de lutte au décrochage scolaire.
2004: The Fondation and the Table des partenaires pour la persévérance scolaire à Montréal establish the Carrefour de lutte au décrochage scolaire.
2009: The Table des partenaires and the Carrefour merge to become Montreal Hooked on School.
Accomplishments
Over the past few years, the funds collected by the foundation have:
- supported certain activities carried out by Montreal Hooked on School
- supported, in memory of Mr. Francis Culée, projects carried out by and for young people to contribute to the school perseverance and educational success of Montreal students
- supported the conduct of the Survey of Quebecers aged 18–34 who have dropped out, considered dropping out, or re-engaged with school, in collaboration with the Desjardins Foundation
- funded scholarships recognizing school perseverance for students in the five Island of Montreal school boards who, despite difficult circumstances, have restarted or successfully continued their high school studies
